Bangladeshi worker swallowed alive by sinkhole

ALOR GAJAH: A worker was buried alive after he slipped into a sinkhole at a heavy vehicle terminal here.
Alamgir Kemal, 25, a Bangladeshi, was working at the terminal in Durian Tunggal here when he was believed to have fallen into the three-metre deep pit under his feet on Thursday.
The incident occurred at about 3.50pm while he was working on an underground sewage piping.
A team of firemen who rushed to the scene only managed to discover his body about two hours later.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Mohamad Laham said a post-mortem on the victim at the Alor Gajah hospital found that he died of severe head injuries.
“We will be in touch with the Bangladesh High Commission to contact the victim’s family,” Supt Mohamad said when contacted yesterday.
