3 dead in factory collapse - BorneoPost Online

SANDAKAN: Three workers two Indonesians and a Filipino were killed when a powerful boiler explosion brought down about 60 percent of a wooden factory building at Mile 8 Chung Hwa Road here, yesterday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as Baid Haidi, Sharil B. Muhd Amin, and Herman B. Kaco, all in their 30s.
They were reportedly trapped under debris of the collapsed section of Mee Lung Far factory following the explosion. The collapsed structure measured about 150 feet x 100 feet.
According to a witness at the scene, he heard a loud explosion coming from the building before he saw it collapse.
According to Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department zone chief, Anddre Andrew, they received a distress call at 1.13 pm and immediately despatched two fire engines, two utility vehicles and 14 firemen to the scene, arriving at 1.27 pm.
They were assisted by 13 police personnel, four medical staff and a RELA member.
According to him, the victims were certified to have died at the scene and their bodies have been sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for a post mortem.
