For the operation of certificated machinery, any individual wishing to install and operate this machinery must obtain a Permit-to-Install (PTI) as required under the provisions of Section 36(1), Factories and Machinery Acts 1967, where each owner/owner/occupant or resident of a workplace and general installation is required to obtain a Permit-to-Install in writing from the Factories and Machinery Inspector, before a general installation of a machinery and also a certificated machinery is installed and a Certificate of Fitness is obtained as in section 19 (1) of the Factories and Machinery Act.

- All statutory inspection charges are based on the charge rate which has been set according to the new rate as in the Factories and Machinery (Notification, Certificate of Fitness and Inspection) (Amendment) Regulations 2004.
