HUNCHUN, Jilin: Twelve Chinese workers trapped for more than 80 hours in a collapsed railway tunnel in northeast Jilin Province were rescued yesterday, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.

The workers were carrying out work inside the high-speed rail tunnel under construction in Hunchun City when it collapsed at about 2am on Wednesday.

Rescuers managed to make contact with the trapped workers and delivered food to them on Friday afternoon through a passage bored into the tunnel. — Bernama
