Health, safety in oil and gas industry must be maintained – Riot
Borneo Post Online, 7 March 2014
KUALA LUMPUR: All workers in the oil and gas industry must be committed in ensuring health and safety are maintained and improved. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot said safety at the workplace was a never-ending task and complacency should be avoided.
“Ensuring a safe and healthy workforce is one of the core missions in my ministry.
“In fact, the department of safety and health is entrusted to oversee that rules and regulations pertaining to the matter at all workplaces are adhered to,” he said at the Shell Malaysia Safety Awards 2013 Gala Dinner at a hotel here today.
Also present were Shell Malaysia chairman Iain Lo and Petronas vice-president (petroleum management) Adif Zulkifli.
Riot said high safety standards could only be achieved with strong strategies, well-defined processes and clear goals to ensure work gets carried out properly and safely.
At the event, six oil and gas companies received the awards.
The award aims to promote and build a strong safety culture in the industry by recognising and celebrating great safety performance. — BERNAMA
