Johor records 29 fatal workplace accidents since January. - The Star Online

PASIR GUDANG: A total of 29 fatal workplace accidents involving foreign workers, mostly at construction sites, were recorded in Johor since January this year.
Johor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) director Kormain Mohd Noor said that the fatalities were mostly due to the lack of awareness on the importance of workplace safety.
He said that it was the responsibility of employers to ensure that all safety protocols were maintained and followed by staff members.
“On our part, we conduct inspection at least once every 15 months but if it is a construction site, then we do it at least three times a year.
“The frequency of inspection also depends on the number of accidents that occurred,” he told reporters after attending a dialogue session with industrial operators and management here on Thursday.
